  1. 2020 Bourgogne Chardonnay, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

This was made from a purchase of grape-must, harvested from vines below the slopes of Meursault vineyards. For its first year, the wine was vinified and aged in 500-litre barrels, then racked and held in tank, for bottling in January 2022. Tasted two months before bottling, this had attractive, floral aromas, with energetic, fresh fruit […]

  2. 2021 Bourgogne Cote d`Or Rouge, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

We are delighted to list this wine again, which Thomas first made in 2018. The vines are at the foot of Volnay’s slope, where you normally find heavy clay soils, but here they are in light soil with round gravels and good drainage. This achieved a natural alcoholic strength of 12.8 degrees, and shows rich […]

We are delighted to list this wine, which Thomas first made in 2018. The vines are at the foot of Volnay’s slope, where you normally find heavy clay soils, but here they are in light soil with round gravels and good drainage. Colour is deep, aromas are rich and fresh. This spent its second winter […]

  4. 2021 Pommard, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

The grapes for this mainly come from the easterly and north-easterly-facing slope of Vaumuriens, uphill from 1er Cru Rugiens. Having achieved excellent ripeness this year, colour is medium deep ruby-purple, aromas are fine, palate is full-bodied and fat, with quite strong, well-rounded tannins (for drinking 2026-2030+).

  5. 2019 Pommard, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

This village Pommard is principally from grapes grown in the Vaumuriens vineyard, which is a high, wind-battered slope – a cooler section of the appellation. The hot 2019 vintage has really favoured this vineyard, and the fruit came slowly to perfect, healthy ripeness. Colour is ruby-purple of medium depth, the nose being fragrant and rich. […]

  6. 2020 Pommard, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

This comes from a limestone- and pebble-rich, white soil, with a north-easterly aspect, uphill from Pommard-Rugiens. It needs extra days to come to ripeness, compared to the classic 1st Growth slopes, but in a warm or hot year is a superb source of balanced, fruit-rich Pommard. This is certainly the case with this 2020, whose […]

  7. 2021 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Rouge, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

These vines grow in three plots, on plateau land above Volnay between the village and the hills. Planted in iron-rich, pebbly red soils they give wines of surprising fruit intensity and finesse – in our eyes, this is a “mini-Volnay”. It was 100% de-stemmed, and has been ageing in 30% new oak barrels. Colour is […]

  15. 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle Sous La Chapelle, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

This is Thomas Bouley’s favourite plot. “I love this vineyard,” he says. “We’re in mid-slope, and favourably exposed (facing south-east) to hasten ripening. Beautiful red soil, clay with iron. Not famous, but you have everything to make great wine here.” The vines are now over 25 years old, reaching maturity, and clusters were 100% de-stemmed […]
