This village Pommard is principally from grapes grown in the Vaumuriens vineyard, which is a high, wind-battered slope – a cooler section of the appellation. The hot 2019 vintage has really favoured this vineyard, and the fruit came slowly to perfect, healthy ripeness. Colour is ruby-purple of medium depth, the nose being fragrant and rich. Palate shows lively, dense fruitiness, with good finesse – not always a natural characteristic of Pommard. Precise, marked tannins will ensure that this wine will keep well; it finishes straight and long (for drinking 2024-2032+).
