This flagship Two Paddocks Pinot Noir is a barrel selection from organically grown grapes from the Neill family’s four vineyards: The Fusilier in Bannockburn, The Last Chance and The Red Bank in Earnscleugh, The First Paddock in Gibbston. 2020 is a superb vintage here, with the naturally small crop (30-40% down) thanks to challenging conditions during flowering, resulting in tiny, concentrated, deeply flavoured berries. 46% whole bunches went into the fermentation vats, and the wine went on to age for 10 months in French barriques (18% new oak). Mid ruby colour, the nose is complex and intense, having floral lift and an enticing combination or ripe black fruits and wood smoke. Palate is supple, full and ripe, with fine, silky textures, tightly knit structure and perfect harmony of fruit, violet tones and freshness. This is an energetic, elegant wine (for drinking 2022 – 2026+).
