There is a high level of soil and sub-soil diversity in the Clos, with a mosaic of orientations and a 60-metre difference in height from top to bottom of the slope. Eleven individual vinifications in small vats now take place, so that the differences may be fully understood, and the Grand Vin carefully assembled. 80% whole bunches were retained, and this has been ageing in 60% new oak barrels. The wine is ruby-purple of medium depth, showing freshly complex aromas of great beauty: spiced red fruits with floral tones of violet and rose. The full-bodied palate has luscious fruit density, climbing to a crescendo of flavours in the mouth. Tannins are gently rounded, length being superb and fresh.
