This came 100% from vines in the centre of the village, from a site called En Coton. “We tried to be more gentle than usual,” said Caroline Drouhin, “extracting colour with low temperature maceration and pumping over. There was a little punching down at the end, from Nicolas, by foot” she added. In colour, this is deeper purple than the Bourgogne, with fine, open aromas. First impression in the mouth shows bright fruitiness, with charm and good length. This is a great-value Co^te de Nuits red (for drinking 2025-2028+).

Maison Laroze de Drouhin
Laroze de Drouhin is the négociant arm of the prestigious Domaine Drouhin-Laroze of Gevrey-Chambertin. It was set up in 2008 by Caroline Drouhin and has enabled the family to supplement their supply of grapes, increasing their range of wines and appellations. As Caroline explains. “We do not own these plots, but manage and work the vineyards with the owners, hand-harvesting ourselves, and making the wines with the same attention to detail that we bring to the wines of our own Domaine”. Caroline and her brother Nicolas – head winemaker – have found it fascinating to work with new terroirs. These three wines are great value, and delightful.
