Roederer`s new multi-vintage Cuvée is a blend of 42% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir and 22% Pinot Meunier sourced exclusively from three of the domaine`s own vineyards: La Rivière, La Montagne and La Côte. Reserve wines are key to the Collection blend, comprising a staggering 44% of the final wine (10% is the norm). These wines date back to 2009, with a quarter having aged in large oak foudres, the rest being held as a perpetual reserve in stainless steel tank. These elements add richness of texture and intense complexity of flavour to the final champagne. Once blended, the wine matured for 3 years on lees in the Roederer cellar in Reims prior to disgorgement and a dosage of 8g/l.
Pale golden colour with beautifully vivacious bubbles, aromas are very fresh and taut, recalling red fruits, fresh peach and pain grillé. Palate is full, supple and generous, having exquisite freshness, fine structure and very lively mouthfeell. This champagne is marked by its elegance and finesse, having lovely depth of brioche and delicate floral-fruit flavours. The finish is persistent, crisp and silky.
