2016 Sancerre, Domaine Etienne Daulny
I have followed this wine for over 20 years and it always hits the high notes. There is a growing trend for Loire Loire Sauvignon Blanc producers to distance their wines from the tropical tones found in versions from warmer climes, resulting in painfully strict and acidic Sancerre which often requires several years to soften. This incarnation is smooth and cultured, with a benchmark gooseberry and lawn cuttings nose and pliant, silky fruit on the palate.
HH&C`s tasting note: From vines grown near the village of Chavignol, this is a beautifully aromatic wine of real finesse. Broad and satisfying in the mouth, flavours are intense, recalling ripe citrus fruits and spices. Young, crisp and fresh, the finish is long and fine. This is sold as a case of 12 bottles. Price includes delivery to the UK mainland.
