Lying on the Pomerol edge of the Saint-Emilion appellation, La Tour Figeac’s closest neighbours are Châteaux Cheval Blanc and Figeac. Here, sandy gravels overlay deep clay subsoil, giving a generous, expressive rendition of Saint-Emilion. “This 2015 is Christian Moeuix’s favourite House Wine”, we were told, when tasting with Laurent Navarre, Managing Director of Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix. We can understand why! The 70% Merlot / 30% Cabernet Franc blend has given a wine that has a wonderful, ripe, sweetly spiced red cherry scent. Body is full, rich and ebullient, having intricate layers of fruit and attractive savoury undertones. The finish is supple and fine (for drinking 2022-2027+) – 14.5%.
