The First Paddock is Sam Neill`s original vineyard, which was planted in 1993. It is now one of the oldest blocks in Central Otago, superbly situated due-east of Queenstown, in upper Gibbston’s dramatic mountain landscape. Bright ruby-purple colour, this 2017 First Paddock has a finely scented, complex aroma that combines both red and black fruits, being ripe and pure. Palate is rich and intense, with tremendous depth and mineral complexity. This is a thoughtfully crafted expression of the Two Paddocks foundation site, having impressive structure, tension and beautiful harmony. A powerful, long finish is a sign of a great future ahead (for drinking 2021-2028+).
