The Last Chance is a dramatically sited terrace perched in bright, clear air above the Earnscleugh Valley. It nestles amongst a small cluster of the world’s most southerly vineyards and takes its name from the watercourse that runs through its heart, hand dug by gold miners in the 1860s.
The 2017 Last Chance Pinot Noir is a pure delight. Super-fine and freshly perfumed, it has an elegance and purity that brings immediate pleasure. Deeply concentrated on the palate, it combines a stony complexity with rich, dark red fruit and notes of wild thyme, having a splendid, silky texture. The finish is still tight, bright and impressively long (for drinking 2020-2027+).
