The 50-year-old Grenache (80%), Syrah (15%) and Mourvèdre (5%) vines for this Gigondas grow on clay-chalk soils which contain scree from the nearby Dentelles de Montmirail mountains. Harvested by hand, with whole bunches used for the Grenache and destemmed grapes for the Syrah and Mourvèdre, Thibaud Chamfort`s gentle hand in the winery gives a pure style of Gigondas which is at once powerful and elegant. This 2016 vintage has opened up beautifully, having attractive, red berry, garrigue and spiced orange peel aromas. Palate is full, finely concentrated and rich, tannins being silky and the finish long and refreshing (for drinking 2022-2024+).
