Lafont-Menaut was acquired by the Perrin family, which owns and runs the highly-acclaimed Château Carbonnieux, 6 years ago. As a Pessac-Léognan expert, Phillibert Perrin has devoted himself to exploiting the potential of the beautifully positioned gravel slopes that make up the Lafont-Menaut vineyards. Of the property’s 10 hectares, 3 produce white wine. 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this 2019 was barrel-aged for 9 months (25% new oak), the result being a white Bordeaux that boasts bright, primary citrus fruit aromatics and complex, flinty tones. Pale lemon-green colour, this is a full, finely textured wine, having lovely fruit intensity and a refreshing, mineral finish (for drinking 2022-2024+) – 13%.
