2019 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, 5ème Cru Classé Pauillac

This 2019 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is François-Xavier Borie`s 41st vintage – and it is another absolute beauty this year. Assembled from 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot, it is currently ageing 75% in new barrels. Intensely deep purple-ruby colour, it shows wonderful, densely packed, scented black fruits on the nose. This is a splendid, perfectly balanced wine, which starts quietly, building to an an intense, brightly powerful, richly concentrated middle. This wine has focus, finesse and precision, tannins being harmonious and ripe. The finish is long-lingering and stylish (for drinking 2026-2045+).
