This is the largest of the great growths of Pomerol to be situated on its famous, clay-gravel central plateau. All the best properties are clustered around Pétrus, and Gazin is no exception. Merlots make up 91.6% of the 2020 assemblage, with 8.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the wine now ageing in 50% new oak. A standout for us when tasting this spring, the 2020 is striking for its bright, pure fruit aromas, beautifully precise and floral. Refreshingly, this wine is all about clarity and elegance, rather than weight or power. It has ample flesh and layers of silky, fine textures. There is a good structure here and well-balanced, ripe tannins that lead to a long, sweet finish (for drinking 2026–2040+).
Please note, this en primeur wine is limited to 1 case online. More may be available: please call 020 7584 7927 or email to enquire further.
