This château’s wines continue to go from strength to strength. The 2020 has been made and is now ageing in a fine new winery and chai, the blend being 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot, with 3% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. “It was a diabolical year,” says Véronique Sanders, president, “with historically high rainfall in the Spring, then heat and exceptional dryness during the summer.” They navigated it brilliantly, and harvesting took place in perfect weather, from 9-25 September. The wine is deeply purple coloured, aromas being richly spicy, fresh and concentrated. The palate is broadly built, with beguilingly-textured fruit concentration, rich, soft tannins and extremely long, fresh aftertaste (for drinking 2025-2040+).
