One of Pomerol`s great names, La Conseillante has been owned by the Nicolas family since 1871. Five generations and nearly 150 vintages later, the mosaic of vine plots is still the same, covering a total of 12 hectares on the Catusseau plateau,. Winemaking today is led by Marielle Cazaux, partnered by Michel Rolland. The 2020 is a blend of 87% Merlot with 13% Cabernet Franc, currently ageing in french oak barrels (70% new) with 3% in clay amphora. Tasting in May 2021, this has great suaveness, elegance, boldness and finesse. Opaque purple colour, aromas are rich and seductive, recalling creamy dark fruits. Palate is full and fleshy, being finely toned and precisely structured. Fruit profile is sweet yet fresh, elevated by attractive floral spiciness. Texture is silky-smooth, tannins being present but incredibly fine, the finish beautifully long (for drinking 2026-2040+)
