As in previous years, approximately 80% whole bunches were included in the fermentation vats, and the wine has been ageing in 50% new barrels, with 25% each in barrels which have contained one, or two, previous vintages. Deeply purple in colour, this has richly fragrant, superb aromas. The wine has undoubted power, reflecting the wonderful summer here, the hottest since 1901, we were told. Seductive fruitiness is present from start to finish on the palate, with well-rounded tannins and freshly elegant, superbly long aftertaste – a great wine (for drinking 2023-2035+).
