Faiveley owns vines in the best section of this vineyard – les Mazis Hauts. For many people, Mazis is the most complex and thrilling of the satellite Grand Crus which adjoin Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze. Winemaker Jérôme Flous has told us that Mazis, for him, should embody everything to be expected from a great wine in this village, and he has excelled himself with this 2018. Colour is medium deep, ruby-purple, aromas ripe, indeed baroque. Palate combines fleshiness with supple fruit, held within a powerful structure, with well-rounded tannins and gorgeous, fresh aftertaste, very long. A wine of great potential (for drinking 2023-2038+).
