This comes from a steeply-sloping, walled plot, just over ½ acre in size, close to the windmill above the domaine. It had been left fallow since the phylloxera crisis, then was re-planted in 2010. There is not much soil, and the Clos is both sunny and windy. Vines have been specially trained up individual stakes, as used to be traditional in sites like this, where everything must be done by hand. 100% whole bunches went into the vat. Purple colour is sumptuously deep, aromas are mouth-wateringly rich, fresh and spicy. Palate is luscious, fruity and complex, with extra-fine tannins and superb length. Tiny availability, as only three barrels could be made, giving 900 bottles in total (for drinking 2024-2035+).
