These vines are planted on clay-rich soil, downhill from Beaune Clos des Mouches, near Pommard’s boundary. The bunches were fully ripened and handsome, so one third whole clusters went into the vat, forming mille-feuille layers, allowing the grapes to bathe gently in fresh-run juice, as the sugar transformations began. One third new oak, one third one-year, with one third two-year barrels are responsible for the gentle tending. The wine is medium deep in colour, highly perfumed, with striking fruit intensity, fine tannins, and gentle, mouth-coating length (for drinking 2024-2032+).
