Clos des Issarts is a little-known, tiny First Growth, situated just north of the Grand Cru Ruchottes-Chambertin, which is now regularly vinified separately by Faiveley. The slope faces north-easterly, so benefits from a hot summer like 2020 to bring grapes to complete ripeness, in timely fashion. Colour is ruby-purple of medium depth, aromas are ripe and fresh. Palate is impressive from first taste, middle-fruit is intense and broad, finish fine, fresh and long (for drinking 2024-2030+).
