This comes from a vineyard which is nearly 35 years old, with a mere 20-30 cm depth of soil before the vine-roots begin to penetrate the rocks. It is a cuvée where Charles Magnien has moved on from traditional punching-down of the grape cap to using more pumping over of the juice, to flatter the wine’s roundness. The grapes were fully de-stemmed, and have been ageing in 20% new barrels. Colour is purple of medium depth, aromas buoyant and characterful. Palate shows bright, intense fruit, with delicacy and refreshing length (for drinking 2023-2030+).
