Les Combes lies below the First Growths of Pommard, near the Volnay commune border, and has in recent years often been frost-damaged. It makes a welcome return here, and 20% whole bunches were retained for the fermentation. Colour is mid-deep, ruby-purple, aromas are floral and open. The wine shows structure, density and gentle tannins – this is an elegant, civilised Pommard with real finesse (for drinking 2024-2030+).
