The tiny production of this wine (two barrels) was ageing in a sealed vat when we visited the domaine in October 2021, so we cannot give our tasting note here. The vines now average 40 years of age, and lie on the Pommard side of Volnay, downhill from the most famous sites. In Thibaud’s hands the grapes consistently produce a wine of great beauty. Half the clusters were fermented whole, in 2020. This is a wine of delicacy and finesse, rather than power, he tells us, which may come to maturity for enjoyment between 2023 and 2030+.
