This is a small property by Haut-Médoc standards, with just 8 hectares under vines, but it is one of our favourite Saint-Estèphe addresses. 1986 was Guy Delon’s first harvest here, after his family property, Ch Phélan-Ségur, was sold, following his parents’ death. His children Jean-François and Guylène now run the estate, being the seventh generation of Delons to make wine in the area.
We are thrilled to have shipped the last 25 cases of this superb 2011 Ségur de Cabanac, direct from Bordeaux. This wine is hitting perfect stride, having a bright ruby colour, with enticing, perfumed aromas, recalling ripe black berry fruits and sweet spice. Palate is harmonious, with ample flesh, good depth of flavour and satisfying textures. The tannins are ripe and in perfect balance. As we often find with Ségur de Cabanac, there is energy and charm in this wine, rendering it irresistible, especially at this price level.
