We are thrilled to have shipped a new parcel of this superb, 2013 vintage Last Chance direct from the Two Paddocks cellars. Having started cool, the 2013 growing season will be remembered for the exceptionally warm, dry autumn, with March being the warmest March on record. This seemed to be the catalyst for lovely, even ripening, which carried on until harvest in mid April.
As is becoming typically practiced for the Proprietor`s Reserve Pinots, a third of the bunches of this 2013 Last Chance went into the fermentation vat whole, contributing aromatic complexity, structure and finesse. The wine spent 11 months in French oak barriques, one third of which was new. The aromas of this now 4-year-old wine are beautiful and intense, recalling red cherries, dried herbs and lifted, sweet spice. This wine displays great density, persistence and length. It has a generous middle, suave texture and a fresh, elegant-yet-powerful finish (for drinking 2017-2021+).
