After only half a harvest in 2013, owners Isabelle and Paulin Calvet have thankfully produced a normal-sized crop in 2014. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, with this First wine representing just 70% of the property’s production. The wine is rich, ruby-purple, with discreetly ripe, fresh aromas. Palate is rich and sumptuous, with lovely roundness in mid-palate, gentle tannins, and harmoniously fresh, rich aftertaste. At £15/case less than the opening price for the 2009, this is truly superb value – a plump wine of enormous charm, for drinking 2018-2025+.
