As in previous years, a judicious percentage of whole bunches was included in the fermentation vats, and the wine has been ageing in 50% new barrels, with 25% each in barrels which have contained one, or two, previous vintages. Such careful barrel-management means that new oakiness is never perceptible in this Grand Cru. Colour is vibrant red-purple, the nose being exceptionally fine and perfumed. Palate is richly built, with substantial, ripe fruitiness and creamy texture. The wine slides across the tongue with velvety smoothness, the finish being vibrant, gently tannic and very long. This will certainly make delicious, youthful drinking and also mature with spiciness, complexity and luscious length (for drinking 2018-2030+).
