These 80 year-old vines grow high on a steep, stony hillside, above the First Growths, and need a few extra days to bring their fruit to maturity, compared to more famous vineyard sites in the village. But if the autumn is fine – as was the case in 2014 – the extra days complete the ripening process. This has purplegarnet colour of medium depth, with freshly rich aromas. Palate shows fine structure, dense fruitiness, mouth-coating tannins, and splendid length. 2-3 years ageing will bring this splendid wine to spicy, complex maturity (for drinking 2018- 2022+).
