The vines of Château de Montfaucon are found on the right bank of the Rhône, directly across the water from Châteauneuf-du-Pâpe. The surprise is the bright, fresh character of their wines that reminds one more of Burgundy than the southern Rhône. Baron Louis comes from their oldest vines, planted on sandy limestone terraces, above the river. The 2015 is a brilliant ruby colour, with attractive aromas of ripe plum, cherry and Christmas spice. Full bodied, the fruit on the palate is sweet, very pure and elegant, with supple, well-rounded flesh. The finish is clean, complex and long lasting.
