Stéphane Ogier is best known for his exceptional wines from Côte-Rôtie in the Northern Rhône. 2010 was his first vintage of this Côtes du Rhône, which comes from two plots in the southern Rhône, purchased more recently. As the name of the wine suggests, the time had come for the domaine to take their adventure to the south. One plot is located in Plan de Dieu, which gives bigger, richer styles. Complimenting this, freshness and structure is contributed by Syrah grapes grown at higher altitude in the Visan commune. 80% Grenache with 20% Syrah, this 2016 has a bright, mid ruby colour, aromas being attractive and perfumed, recalling raspberries, damson and spices. This is a medium-bodied, charming wine, with a supple, mouthcoating texture and a fresh, satisfying finish.
