There are two sectors in this vineyard, one planted 55 years, one 18 years ago. A high limestone content in the soil gives this red Auxey vitality and delicate perfume. The grapes were in excellent health, so 10-12% of whole bunches, without de-stemming, were included in the fermentation, to bring supple texture and complex aromas. Ageing then took place in barrels, with bottling due in November 2018. Garnet-purple of medium depth, this wine’s nose is open, ripe and abundantly fresh. Palate shows excellent fruit concentration, good body and medium tannins, which will need a year or two of bottle-age to soften (for drinking 2020-2026+).
