2004 is a superb vintage at Château La Lagune. We loved this wine when tasting it from barrel in 2005, and it has gone on to develelop beautifully in the bottle, just as anticipated. It was made at a point when the the property was undergoing a renaissance of quality, with leading consultant Denis Dubourdieu working alongside young oenologist Caroline Frey (who now runs the property) . Mid ruby-garnet colour, the nose is at once aromatic (with hints of violet), ripely fruity, with grilled, earthy-spice and cedar character. Palate is supple and wonderfully balanced. The terroir of La Lagune gives wines of finesse and elegance, rather than power, and this finishes with silky, softened tannins of the greatest charm (for drinking 2021-2024+).
