Château Bellegrave and its 8 hectares of vines lie in the south of Pauillac, nestling between Châteaux Latour, Pichon-Longueville and Lynch-Bages. Demonstrating Pauillac’s hallmark power with poise, but with a significantly lowlier price tag than those of its Classed Growth neighbours, this 2014 is a gem. A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon with 48% Merlot, aged for 12 months in 45% new barrels, aromas are taut and attractive: smoke, cedar, cassis. Palate is linear and finely structured, with intensely-knit flavours and a finish that is full of finesse (for drinking now-2028+).
