The second wine of the celebrated Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Lacoste-Borie encapsulates all the classic qualities of Pauillac. The vines lie at the heart of the commune, mid-way between the châteaux which border Saint-Estèphe (to the north), and those adjoining Saint-Julien (to the south). The assemblage in 2016 is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Colour is bright purple, the attractive, floral aromas being both ripe and very fresh. There is intense, vibrant fruit and elegant structure, the tannins being silky. Here is a wine of splendid vitality, that will charm drinkers for years to come (for drinking 2020-2027+).
