This wine comes from two plots, one being 24, one 60 years old. Thomas Bouley tells us that the vines are planted on a concave hummock which adjoins the village, and is the most northerly section of Les Rugiens Haut. Soils are very thin, often no more than 10cm covering the mother rock, into which the vines roots must penetrate for moisture and character. The wine is rich in both colour and nose, with a palate which shows succulent, delicious fruitiness, crystalline freshness and harmonious, gently tannic aftertaste. This is a great wine which needs at least 4-6 years bottle age and has a splendid future ahead (for drinking 2020-2035+).
