These grapes were harvested from two 40-year-old plots which lie downhill from Chassagne’s road to Santenay, 3/5 coming from Les Platières, with the remaining 2/5 from Les Lombardes. Natural yeasts have transformed the sugars, after 4-5 days of cool, pre-fermentation maceration, into a wine of medium-deep, ruby-purple colour, with aromas of black fruits. Lombardes has brought structure, and Platières the fruit concentration. This is a splendid wine, with gentle tannins and lovely potential (for drinking 2019-2025+).
