85% whole bunches were included in the fermentation vats here, the wine now ageing in 50% new barrels, with 25% each in barrels which have contained one or two previous vintages. In colour, this is rich, ruby-purple, very bright. The nose is superb, showing great finesse. Palate is a judicious melding between structure, fruit intensity, creamy texture and well-rounded tannins. There is an iron fist within the velvet glove, and this has the power to age and enrich its complexities over two or more decades. An absolutely charming wine, and a classic Clos des Lambrays (for drinking 2025-2040+).
