A new discovery this vintage, this Grand Cru from the famous hill of Corton has been ageing in a single barrel of tight-grained new oak, whose staves had been weathered in the open air for 3 years – having done many trials of different types of barrel for his Grands Crus, Thibaut believes this to be the best way of achieving perfect integration of oak influence in the final wine. And this is most certainly the case with this delicious 2016. Deep purple-ruby in colour, aromas are well-ripened, intensely complex and finely perfumed: violets and dark fruit. Palate shows rich structure, concentrated fruit, vivacious tannins and magnificent length. This has great potential for the future (for drinking 2021-2035+).
