This First Growth forms a broad swathe of vineyard at the heart of the hillside to the north of Les Cazetiers, marching up to the commune border with neighbouring Brochon. 60% of the plot is planted with broad-shouldered bunches of Pinot Noir Magnien, with its thick skins. On average, the vines here average a respectable 31 years of age. This wine was aged for just under 12 months in 50% new, and 50% one-year-old, lightly toasted barrels. Colour is engaging, mid-deep ruby-purple, the nose being fresh and lovely. Palate is broad, with lively concentration, supple middle, soft tannins and luscious length. This richly harmonious wine will be very easy to enjoy (for drinking 2019-2026+).
