These vines form a well-drained, south-facing plot on the Vosne-Romanée side of the village, where a small valley leads up towards the hills. The vineyard is steeply-sloped, facing due south, with many pebbles. In a cool year, breezes down the valley can slow the ripening process, but the beautiful 2016 summer brought these grapes to perfect ripeness. Colour is medium-deep, ruby purple, with nose showing discreet, gently spiced dark fruit. First impressions on the palate are impressive, with intense flavours and rich structure. Tannins are perfectly judged, freshness is present on the finish, the aftertaste is lovely (for drinking 2020-2030+).
