2017 Bourgogne rouge Milliane, Claudie Jobard

Named for Claudie’s great-grandmother (whose real name was Emilie-Anne) this comes from 60 year-old plot of vines growing in the commune of Pommard. They lie not far from the plane-tree-lined RN 74 opposite the Château de Pommard, where the village’s best Bourgognes are made. Like the next wine, this has low tannins, and may be enjoyed while youthful, maybe ahead of the 2016 vintage. Colour is attractive, bright purple, the nose being redolent of classic Pinot Noir fruitiness. Palate shows good attack, with fine balance and gentle farewell (for drinking 2019-2022+).
