Domaine Faiveley is a major owner in Chambertin Clos de Bèze, possessing 1.3 hectares, a significant proportion of the total 15.4 hectares. Colour is medium-deep, red-purple. For the nose, as expected from Clos de Bèze – which rarely struts its stuff while youthful – this was discreet, when tasted from barrel in October. But magnificent ripeness was apparent, with freshness, promising mightily for the future. On the palate, this was less demonstrative than Mazis-Chambertin, but had more imposing presence. Fruit density combined with wellstructured body, gentle tannins, and outstanding length merit the highest praise. This is a prodigious wine, with a magnificent future, for drinking 2025-2045+).
