It is astonishing how careful wine-making can conjure delicious quality from little-known sites. This comes from a vineyard in Comblanchien, which lies between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The old-vines plot – cultivated organically, like all the family-owned vineyards – is named La Berchère. Medium purple in colour, the nose is clean, open and ripe. Palate shows the power of the Côte de Nuits, with a well-structured framework, and splendid, rich fruitiness. There is beautiful, fresh harmony in the aftertaste (for drinking 2020- 2027+).
