This wine comes from two plots, one being 24, one 60 years old. Thomas Bouley tells us that the vines are planted on a concave hummock which adjoins the village, and is the most northerly section of Les Rugiens Haut. Soils are very thin, often no more than 10cm covering the mother rock, into which the vines roots must penetrate, for moisture and character. The wine shows medium-deep purple-ruby colour, with very fragrant, open aromas. Palate is magnificent, with many layers of flavours, concentrated fruit, succulent, mouth-coating tannins, superb length. A great wine for long-term keeping (for drinking 2025-2045+).
