This vineyard is one of the highest Premiers Crus of the commune, and always one of the last to be harvested. The soils are thin and pebble-rich, giving wines of intense fruit, which can be dense when youthful, even initially a bit austere – but they mature superbly. For this 2018, all stems were removed before fermentation. Colour is deeper purple than for Clos Prieur, and aromas show fresh, cherry fruitiness. The wine is full-bodied, with excellent concentration and lively mid-palate, continuing all the way to a soft, refreshing aftertaste. No hurry to open this (for drinking 2023-2032+).
