2018 Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier aux Moines, Domaine du Cellier aux Moines

This historical Burgundy property (est. 1130) is one of our most exciting discoveries of recent years. The borders of the original 5-hectare Clos still exist 870 years on, lying on a south facing, clay-limestone hillside, classified as Givry Premier Cru. The Pascal family purchased the property in 2004, and we have been thrilled to ship their wine since the 2015 vintage. Colour of this 2018 is bright purple-ruby, aromas being complex and fragrant, showing a rich mix of bramble fruits, lifted by violet and sweet spice. This is a full bodied, elegant wine, which envelopes the palate with impressive density of fruit and fleshy, silky textures. There is crunchy freshness and buoyant energy, with precise structure and excellent length. As stylish a Givry as they come (for drinking from 2021-2029+).
