These vines were planted in 1955, so are more than 60 years old. The plot lies downhill from the village, below the road to Beaune, on a warm slope beneath 1st Growth Ile des Vergelesses. Soils are deep and rich in iron, with substantial, moisture-retaining clay content. Colour is medium-deep, purple-ruby, aromas fine, still discreet in October. Fruit density on the palate is remarkable, allied with rich structure, gently fresh tannins and impressive length (for drinking 2021-2028+).
