This is not a First Growth, but represents Santenay’s appealing fruitiness, at a reasonable price, with engaging stylishness. It is a success almost every vintage, and time has shown it ages well. The vines lie just uphill from the Clair Domaine, downhill from 1st Growth La Maladière. Colour is medium-deep purple-red, aromas show bright, rich fruitiness. Palate starts full, with lots of fruit in the middle, then more noticeable – but gentle – tannins than usual, with a vibrant finish (for drinking 2021-2025+).
