Wine-maker Jérôme Flous believes that several of the Faiveley Côte de Beaune 2016 reds are better than their 2015s – and here is one outstanding example. It is a little-seen First Growth Beaune, recently acquired by Faiveley, and one of the Domaine’s rising stars. It is always one of their first plots to ripen, as the vines face due south. Very deep in colour, this has rich, black fruits aromas, with well-structured, voluminous palate. Fruitiness is fresh and concentrated, texture well-rounded, tannins and acidity in perfect balance (for drinking 2020-2028+).
